VICE PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

“Ye stars! which are the poetry of heaven.” -Lord Byron
I am often asked why I became a teacher or chose education as my profession. Well, the reasons for
taking up this profession are as clear as crystal to me. The answer lies in the innocent smiles, the
unconditional love, unquestioning faith and trust, carefree abandon and cheerfulness, the throaty
laughter and witty one-liners of the young children. Needless to say that working closely with children,
keeps you young at heart as well!
Children are like stars, twinkling in the sea of humanity. In fact, the stardust that scattered after the
Sun exploded gradually settled and gave form to all life on Earth. So, we are all made of stardust and
are in a way, stars. Of course children are the ones that shine with utmost clarity and sparkle.
As stars then, let us shine on till eternity. Let us brighten lives with love and compassion. Let us work
for not just our good but for the common good of all humanity, peace and harmony between all
spheres of life. We are stars...equipped with the power and energy to illuminate this earth and
eradicate all darkness. We have the power to ensure that no one sleeps hungry at night, no one dies of
cold in the winter, and all children drink clean water, breathe clean air and receive an education. We
can ensure that the sky does not rain acid and the soil does not bear poison. After all, isn’t that what
        education is all about?
Yes, it is overwhelming to realize that we have such immense power and with that power comes
great responsibility. As educators and teachers, we have a serious responsibility – that of shaping and
moulding young minds, of showing them the right path, empowering them with skills to be wholesome
individuals and contribute to the world. At Doon International School Riverside Campus, faculty
members take their roles as educators very seriously and enthusiastically. It is a solemn promise that we make with ourselves, to not let down our students and the expectations that the
world has from citizens of tomorrow. We equip each individual with not just the knowledge and understanding of concepts but also how to apply them in their daily life; equip them
with the tools to be forever progressive, optimistic, compassionate and sensitive.
I feel immensely fortunate to be a part of this family at Doon International School. It is heartening to see that the vision shared by the Chairman Mr D S Mann and the Directors Mr H S Mann
and Ms Sonika Mann, to provide a happy learning environment where children recognize their fullest potential, develop a strong self-esteem and build tolerance and respect for others, is
taking shape. In just a short journey of five years, the school has already made its mark as one of the best CBSE, co-educational boarding schools in the country. It will be equally heartening
to see our young students reach the zenith of their aspirations and dreams and make a name for themselves, that will shine like the infinite twinklers in the sky that little children often lie
down and gaze at and talk about with all their innocence and simple logic:
We had the sky, up there, all speckled with stars, and we used to lay on our backs and look up at them, and discuss about whether they was made, or only just happened- Jim he allowed
they was made, but I allowed they happened; I judged it would have took too long to make so many. Jim said the moon could a laid them; well, that looked kind of reasonable, so I didn't say
nothing against it, because I've seen a frog lay most as many, so of course it could be done. We used to watch the stars that fell, too, and see them streak down. Jim allowed they'd got
spoiled and was hove out of the nest.[-Mark Twain, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn]
