EVACUATION DRILL AT RIVERSIDE

“Shallow men believe in luck; wise and strong men in the cause and effect." – Ralph Waldo Emerson

To reiterate the importance of safety and to recapitulate the safety measures taught periodically, an evacuation drill was held in the school premises on Thursday, the 9th of March. The drill began with the sounding of the long bell and hooter which prompted all students and staff to evacuate the building immediately. All members of the Disaster Committee took their respective positions to ensure the quick yet calm movement of everyone out of the Academic Block and other buildings, on to the Main Field. Once everyone had assembled, a quick head count was taken to ensure that no one had been left out. The Head of Administration, Col. Jagdeep Singh addressed the gathering and briefed about the importance of such drills. He explained that such procedures are necessary in order to minimise casualties when faced with any natural calamity like an earthquake or fire. In the words of Eleanor Everet: ‘Safety is not a gadget but a state of mind’.
